5 libri da leggere per approcciarsi a una vita vegana

Many of you have asked me for advice on which books to read to deepen the vegan choice. There are hundreds of interesting readings to do on the subject, but I have decided to offer you a selection of the five books that I consider one must-have to start approaching a vegan lifestyle. I have included the books that are fundamental for me, which I often consult and gladly reread.

Because we love dogs, eat pigs and wear Melanie Joy's cows

The first book that I propose to you is very demanding but really wonderful. It is a reading that helped me to better understand my life choice. Melanie Joy is a very good psychotherapist who, in this book, asks herself some questions. For example: what drives us to love a dog and not have trouble eating a pig? Joy developed the theory of "carnism," which she illustrates very well in this book. Carnism is the ideology on which established eating habits are based that we are not aware of.

How to Create a Vegan World: A Pragmatic Approach by Tobias Leenaert

One of the most important books I've ever read. It focuses on a specific approach to veganism. The book outlines the best way to achieve lasting change and how to keep the general focus on saving animals' lives without becoming too obsessed with achieving a moral goal right away. It is a controversial book, especially in parts. It can be very difficult for purists to accept, but as a vegan I understand that Leenaert's strategies could achieve the goal more effectively than other approaches.

This book is truly a must-have. I think it's a book suitable for everyone, regardless of their interests or skills in the kitchen. The book begins with a beautiful introduction to plant-based nutrition, the basic recommendations to support it, a guide to shopping, pantry, kitchen supplies, seasonal vegetables ... in short, anything you could wish for! After this in-depth introduction, simple and delicious recipes begin that fully embody the style of Botanical Cuisine (for those who don't mind it, it is a plant-based diet YouTube channel, carried out, in fact, by the talented Carlotta Perego, a teacher who cooks for us. vegetable). The recipes are also divided into seasons, in order to facilitate the preparation of dishes with fresh and seasonal ingredients. A must-have book in the kitchen!
